What to expect in a voice lesson
-
Discuss your vocal goals: You'll get some time to go over what your vocal goals are, whether that is to improve your karaoke skills or nailing an audition for your dream role!
-
Evaluation of vocal health: In the beginning of your lesson, Ashten have you do a few warmups to hear how your voice is currently working and responding to different exercises. This helps determine a good strategy for your voice.
-
Personalized Online Coaching: We'll come up with a personalized strategy to help you reach the vocal goals you described at the top of the lesson. Plus, we'll apply this to a song you are working on!
-
Practical application: Once we have reviewed some strategies and exercises that will work best for your voice, we'll apply it to a song you are working on, so be sure to have a song ready that you feel stuck on and we'll see how to unblock your progress!

Frequently asked questions
Who are online voice lessons for?
Adult beginners and hobbyists, choir and worship singers, musical and community theater performers, and anyone who has been told they “can't sing.” No experience is needed.
How do lessons on Zoom work?
You join from your phone or laptop. I can hear your tone and see your breathing, posture and jaw tension in real time, and we apply every exercise to a song you're working on.
What will we work on?
Breath support, releasing tension, pitch, range, healthy belting, vocal strain, audition preparation, and the songs you actually want to sing. I teach this as the breath → tension → pitch chain: fix the breath first and the rest gets easier.
How much do voice lessons cost?
See the lesson options above. For a full breakdown of what affects price, read How Much Do Voice Lessons Cost in 2026?
How often should I take lessons?
Weekly lessons build skills fastest for most beginners, with 10 to 20 minutes of practice on most days in between.
